Cycling

Grab a bike and discover the Noord Kop. There are many special cycling routes and we describe one below:

In 969, Egmond Abbey received a nice present: six farms were given to the abbey by Count Dirk II and his wife. Schagen is already mentioned in the document about it, although it is unlikely that it was already a village then. It was probably no more than a farm on a mound. Tuitjenhorn is a few years older, it was founded around the year 1000. Still, Tuitjenhorn and Schagen are only youngsters compared to Winkel. People of the single grave culture already lived there in 2500 BC.
